About Warren

You will be treated by Warren Wilson, an Acupuncturist and practitioner of East Asian Medicine with a wealth of clinical experience. Warren graduated from Brisbane College of Traditional Acupuncture with a degree in Acupuncture and diplomas in Herbal Medicine and Chinese Massage in 1986.

Warren then went to Korea and Japan where he continued his studies in all aspects of East Asian Medicine. In Korea, he trained under Dr Oh Soo Il, a highly regarded Doctor of Korean Traditional Medicine for a period of 7 years. He also trained under Yang Yohan, a Qi Gong and Taoist meditation master for a period of 6 years. In Japan, Warren trained in Zen Shiatsu with the renowned Takeo Suzuki for a period of 18 months.

Warren has studied with some of East Asian Medicine’s most esteemed practitioners over the past 30 years, including Kiiko Matsumoto, Tsuyoshi Shimamura and Masaaki Nakano. All of these teachers have been greatly influenced by Master Nagano, a renowned Acupuncturist from Japan, with phenomenal diagnostic and treatment skills. Master Nagano studied the Chinese Classics in Acupuncture theory and clinical application, so the roots of Japanese Acupuncture are embedded in Classical Chinese traditions.

Warren also had the privilege to study with Dr Tan in the last teaching seminar he held in Sydney. Dr Tan was a gifted teacher who had some amazing insights into the philosophy of how the body is able to be regulated, by using specific treatment strategies, based on imaging of various body parts with other regions of the body. This is often called micro-systems which reflect the whole.

Another gift that Dr Tan shared with this students was his insights into Bagua and the use of trigrams and hexagrams to bring balance back to the individual. Warren is pursuing his studies of Bagua with a group of like minded individuals, who have taken up the challenge of un-locking this unique system of diagnosis and treatment.

Warren continues to refine his skills in these traditions and in so doing gaining deeper insights into this unique healing art.

Warren has been working at his clinic in Gordon since coming back from Korea in 1997. Originally the clinic was called Shiatsu and Acupuncture Clinic. Now it is called Acupuncture Synergy Health, as Warren’s treatments now focus on Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine.

Activities

Warren has been doing meditation over the past 40 years. He has undergone intensive meditation retreats in Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Japan. With this background, Warren is able to guide people in simple meditation and breath awareness techniques which they can incorporate into their daily lives. These simple exercises enable a person to regulate their daily lives and prevent the effects of stress from building up and causing disharmony.

Warren has also been a martial arts practitioner over the past 45 years, having trained in numerous styles both in Australia and in his time spent travelling in Asia. This understanding of body dynamics enables him to assist people involved in any kind of physical activity to fine tune their physical performance, and if injured, to get you back into activity as soon as possible.

Warren enjoys bush walking with the family dog, body surfing, yoga, martial arts, meditation and studying philosophy. He is also a keen gardener, growing vegetables for the family and neighbours, and providing the local insect population with spray free nutritious food. A traveller and adventurer, Warren likes to get off the beaten track, especially when travelling in Asia. Not much time for that these days unfortunately!

Always on the lookout for authentic Asian food keeps Warren primed for that memorable meal.
